The Adinkra Cultural Arts Studio (ACAS) provides classes, workshops and events specific to the arts of the African diaspora. Located in the heart of the Gateway Arts District in Mt. Rainier, MD at the bottom of the 34th street hill just above the roundabout ACAS comprises 3802 – 3808 34th Street – 3500 square feet of space dedicated to promoting, teaching and presenting art of the African Diaspora.
UbuntuNankama@ACAS at 3802 34th Street is a 1000 square foot dance studio with a full mirrored wall that houses Lesole’s Dance Project professional dance company whose objective is to present high quality performances highlighting South African traditional dances, American Modern Dance and AfroFusion Dance; and Farafina Kan: The Sound of Africa, an intergenerational traditional West African drum and dance whose mission is to maintain the history, traditions, and culture of Africa through performances, workshops, residences, and in-studio classes.
The DanceStudio@ACAS is the proud home studio of ASA!, Kathy Smith Dance Company and an available space for independent dancers and other companies looking for a space to practice and/or host classes at 3804 34th Street Mt. Rainier, MD. The DanceStudio@ACAS is 800 sq. ft. with a full-mirrored wall, three-mounted Ballet Barres, full sound system and restrooms.
AsliPure@ACAS at 3806 34th Street is the new home base of Asli Pure Natural Body Care – a retail location with all natural soap, Body Nectar, Body Scrub, Body Oil, and Bath Accesories.
The StudioGallery@ACAS at 3808 34th Street Mt. Rainier, MD is 1800 sq. ft. art gallery and private event space (members only) with laminate flooring, ample wall space w/ hooks for hanging art and two unisex restrooms purposed for art exhibitions, cultural events, classes and cultural art workshops.
ACAS is located about 10 minutes by bus from both Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station on the Red Line and West Hyattsville Metro Station on the Green Line with onsite decimated parking.
